hello there. i'm a clinical teacher in the oral surgery department here at bristol dental school. we teach oral surgery in years 3, 4 and 5 of the dental undergraduate programme. alongside a series of lectures year 3 students start with us bypracticing their skills on manikin heads and then progress to treat patients forthe remainder of the clinical years. they mainly carry out dental extractionsin the department but have the opportunity to see a rangeof oral and maxillofacial surgery here in the dental school and in theneighbouring bristol royal infirmary. we see patients referred from outsidepractitioners
as well as emergency cases who walk into the hospital, so no two days are the same and it certainly keeps the students ontheir toes! the dental students really enjoy oral surgery and we look forward to seeing you in thedepartment one day too. bye for now.
