hi, my name's michelle, and work at solutionz.i'm a dental assistant, and i'm going to explain to you how you can correct an overbite, okay?by looking at this x-ray, we can see that on the lower jaw the teeth are set furtherback than the upper jaw, and in this case, mainly you would need to go see an orthodontist,which is a dentist that deals strictly with braces, and they would be able to assist youin correcting an overbite issue such as this case. what they would initially have you dois we would, they would put upper and lower braces on your teeth. sometimes, in some cases,you may need to have a tooth extracted, or you might need to have jaw surgery in orderto correct an overbite; depending on how severe the case is. but in this case, more than likelyyou would just have upper and lower braces
placed, and in conjunction with a tooth extractedpossibly on the upper. and then they would make you wear what we call is rubber bands,and it looks just like a rubber band that is attached from your lower jaw to your upperjaw. and what that does is that aids in helping the braces pull your lower jaw forward, whichthen in conjunction will bring your upper and your lower teeth closed together. onceagain, my name's michelle, and i just explained to you how you could correct an overbite.
