crowns and teeth grinding

we often talk about breathing well asdentists, but what do we mean? let's talk about that and how importantbreathing well is... in order to breathe well, ideally we should breathe through our nose.noses are made for breathing. the reason that's important isbecause we have five levels of filtration in our nose. we have the fine hairs that filter the air,we have the mucous membrane lining our nose and sinuses which kills microbes like bacteria and viruses. then we have the sinuses and the turbinateswhich warm and humidify the air.

the adnoids which filter it andfinally the tonsils which act as the last line of defense. so breathing through thenose is a really important part of getting our breathng levels right andbreathing in clean air. if we breathe through your mouth that'sa problem... because we bypass four of those filtration systems and we just rely on our tonsils.not only that but we also predispose ourselves to somerespiratory problems and not only that, we also end up withthe dry mouth which has all sorts implications for oral health. breathing slowly through your nose is an important part of

keeping body chemistry balanced, and animportant part of being in good health. that's something we focus on a lot in our practice at the sydney holistic dental centre. in our next video, i'm going to show you aridiculously simple exercise for breathing retraining.where we use seven or eight hours of sleep to retrain ourselves to breathe throughour nose.
