hi, friends. how many of you know whatthis is? for those of you that might have a chewer in your family, you aregoing to be excited about this. so, come on insideand i'll tell you about it. okay, so what's a chewer? a chewer is the kid who is constantlychewing their nails, biting on their clothes, that wet spot on their shirt, orchewing on toys, or your furniture, or all the things that you don't want themto chew on. so, come and sit down and i will tell you how this isgoing to help you. so, the necklace. this is something that ifound online after doing some research
about older kids, or older toddlerswho still chew on everything. this is for our four and a half year old.she has always been very oral, and i think actually most little kids are,but she kind of wasn't really outgrowing it, and everything was stillgoing in her mouth. we were finding her chewing on ourcoffee table, or colored pencils, or you know, i would see her and she wouldbe sitting there chewing and sucking on her shirt. and so, i was thinking, "whatcan we do for that?" and actually, the idea came from her pre-school teacher, and she said that through the mouth is one of the ways that kids experience the worldaround them, and so to take that away from
them is to kind of take awayone of their senses. but obviously, i don't want her chewing onmy coffee table, so i thought, "okay, how can i... ?" i think we mightneed to go and sit with my little. she's talking to us. so, she was chewingon everything, like i said. coffee tables, colored pencils, herclothes. so i did the research and i found this necklace. now, there's a bunch ofdifferent kinds. you don't have to get the heart, it's just the one that she picked.but there's dog tags, and there's little pendants or littleegg shapes that you can get, and they're specificallydesigned for chewing.
they're for lots of different reasonsand lots of different groups. there's some for toddlers, and there'ssome for children who are on the autism spectrum that want to chew on something.because, as we know, you can't roll to pre-school with sophie. thatprobably wouldn't go over very well. besides, that's for the little. anyway, sowe got this necklace and it worked. she stopped chewing on her nails.she stopped chewing on her shirt. i haven't seen her put the coffee tablein her mouth in probably.... oh, i don't know, since we got this.now, the colored pencils... i don't know when that happened.that might've happened after this,
but it's helped a lot. so if you'reinterested in it, there's a couple different websites that you canfind...actually, you can get them on amazon, too. but there's a coupledifferent websites, and it talks about why they're helpful and how they're helpful. they can help kids concentrate whilethey're working on their math or whatever, because some kids... you! chew on yourteether! some kids just need to chew on something, and mine's one of them. so wefound this necklace, and i'm actually probably going to get her a different one,so she'll have one or two. okay, thanks for watching. hopeyou guys are having a good day.
