there’s a couple of phases to the implant...there’s the implant placement where there is no tooth on the implant. so you wouldn’t be eating with it at that point anyway. um once the implant is uncovered and the crown is placed then you can function on it just as you would any other tooth. um if you have an immediate implant that is temporized with the temporary crown in an aesthetic zone then you don’t want to function on that tooth at all for the first four to six months. uh if it’s in the upper arch, if it’s in the lower arch than we typically say about four months before you function on that.
