people took a strange interest in the video,even people who didn’t consider themselves fans of porn. the story of how the video was leaked is almostmore interesting than the video itself. pamela and tommy lee fired a crew of workersthat were building their new home in malibu. the couple felt as though the work was donepoorly and they quickly fired the entire crew without letting them finish. one electrician came back to the propertyto retrieve some of his tools. tommy lee aimed a loaded shotgun at him whileyelling for him to get off the property. after this, the electrician was so infuriatedthat he later returned to the home again and
broke into a safe. he stole money, expensive jewelry, and a homerecorded tape which held a romantic get away between the couple. the tape was bought and distributed by internetentertainment group, which pamela later sued. however the lawsuit resulted in a confidentialsettlement agreement with ieg and the video was made available to subscribers once again. while pamela anderson had a thriving careeras a playboy model and actress before the leak of her tape, chances are if you ask someonetoday what she’s famous for, their answer will likely be the leak.

skate america championships. unfortunately, the athletic sweetheart wascaught in a storm of controversy after her tape was leaked. the tape was between her and then-husbandjeff gillooly. the couple agreed to profit off the mistakeand sold the rights to penthouse, where they received an advance payment of 200,000 dollarseach, plus royalties. the majority of outburst was due to the factthat many thought she was throwing away her athletic persona and trading it in for a fewhundred thousand dollars and a new image as a sex symbol.
the tape, however, didn’t affect her careerat all. even after retiring from figure skating shewent on to pursue a career in promotion, and tv commentating. it’s good to keep in mind that tonya madethis decision herself, as an adult, and we as an audience shouldn’t patronize her fortaking a bad situation and using it to her benefit. number 7: colin farrell farrell has had a very successful career asan actor, starring in over 30 movies and tv spots.
he’s well known for his strong good looksthat pull the heart strings of female viewers. there’s another major role he played thatmany don’t know about, and it’s in his own tape. farrell made a 13-minute tape in 2003 withex-girlfriend and playboy model nicole narain. nicole handed the video over to the internetcommerce group (icg) in an attempt to have it leaked and ruin the actor's career. although the video did leak, it wasn’t verypopular at the time so many didn’t get a chance to see it. though he was offered 5 million dollars forthe videos rights, farrell sued both nicole
and the icg for unauthorised public distribution. a settlement was reached and the tape wasbasically wiped from the internet. lucky for some fans, there are of course clipsand images left around the web, a huge irreversible flaw in the actors career. number 6: paris hilton most people have polar opinions on this realitystar. some see her as a fabulous role model, andothers absolutely hate her presence in media. many argue that the star is only famous becauseof her father's’ riches, while others claim that her personality and creativity is whatdrove her to fame.
either way, both sides of the spectrum areprobably well informed on her notorious tape; 1 night in paris. the tape, between her and then-boyfriend ricksalomon was leaked just before the first episode of reality show the simple life, starringnicole richie. entertainment writers from all over agreedthat the leaked tape was likely what led to paris’s overnight rise to fame. a young blonde daughter of a millionaire? of course that would attract a mass audience. the funny thing about this leak is that salomon,who published the video, actually sued paris
first. she claimed in an interview that she was outof it, either on drugs or very dazed, during the filming and didn’t agree with it beingpublished. salomon claimed that paris was fine with publishingthe tape as she knew it would help her collect more fame, so he sued her for attempted defamation. paris counter sued for the release of thetape. hilton was awarded as much as 400,000 dollarsat the conclusion of the case. as sad as it is to say, paris probably wouldn’tbe as popular as she is today without help from this famous tape, a publicity stunt thatkim k later replicated.
number 5: verne troyer this tape came as a shock to most, which iswhy it’s so high up on our list. this actor is popular for his role as mini-mein the austin powers franchise, but is also famous for stunt acting and stand-up comedy. a notable feature of verne troyer is thathe’s only about 2 feet tall due to cartilage–hair hypoplasia dwarfism. in 2008, vernes ex-girlfriend, ranae shrider,leaked a home tape with the help of tmz. troyer, was able to successfully sue tmz,blatt, and an online rental company named sugardvd, for invasion of privacy and copyrightinfringement.
despite the successful lawsuit that had mosttraces of the video removed, the internet worked it’s magic and certain clips canstill be found around the web. though the tape did not negatively affectverne’s career, many were strangely interesting in seeing it, so his privacy was deeply andwidely violated. number 4: dustin diamond yet another video that seemed it’s audience,the dustin diamond tape was leaked in 2006. the word leaked should be used loosely herebecause diamond himself directed and released the video. the saved by the bell child star, cleverlyand almost disgustingly named the film “screeched:
saved by the smell.†after releasing the video and profiting offit’s rights, diamond claimed that it wasn’t actually him in the tape. he claimed that it was a stunt double or lookalike, and he was simply in charge of directing. many find that hard to believe, though. the tape attracted a huge audience of longtime fans, and some that were just curious to see the geeky star get it on. number 3: rob lowe in 1988 rob lowe was caught up in a huge controversyover a tape filmed the night before the democratic

porn star james deen. the tape was sold by a pornographic entertainmentcompany as a leaked celebrity tape, but james deen claimed they were both paid in contractto create and publish the tape. when questioned about the tape it’s uncertainif farrah claims it was actually leaked or not, but she does explain that it basicallyruined her life. she lost friends and business ties. many other mothers on teen mom didn’t wanther on the show anymore, claiming she was a bad role model and horrible example of ateen mom. the scandal did create a conflict with teenmom contracting, and there was infamous fight
